Uploading Your Brochure Files: Tips for Perfect Folding

Ready to upload your artwork? Great! Following these guidelines will help ensure your brochures look fantastic, especially when it comes to folding.

The #1 Key to Great Brochures: Accurate Fold Lines

  • Getting the fold lines exactly right is the most critical aspect of preparing brochure files for print.
  • Even small errors in fold line placement can result in uneven panels or important text/images landing awkwardly on a fold.

The Easiest Solution: Use Our Design Templates!

  • We strongly recommend using the free design templates available on our website. This is the best way to guarantee your fold lines and panel sizes are correct.
  • Where to Find Them: Look for the template download links on this product page, typically located near the "Description" section.
  • Why Use Templates?
    • They have pre-marked, accurate guides for the specific fold type you selected (Half Fold, Tri-Fold, etc.).
    • They account for necessary adjustments. Important: For folds like the Tri-Fold, the panel that folds inward needs to be slightly narrower (usually about 1/16") than the other panels to tuck in neatly without buckling. Our templates handle this automatically!

File Upload Options:

You can provide your artwork in one of two ways:

  1. Single PDF: Upload one multi-page PDF file. Please ensure Page 1 is the outside (front) of the brochure and Page 2 is the inside (back).
  2. Separate Files: Upload two separate files, one clearly named for the outside (front) and one for the inside (back).

For Printing to the Edge (Full Bleed):

  • If your design has colors or images that go right to the edge of the paper, please include bleed. This means extending your artwork about 1/8 inch beyond the final trim size on all sides.
  • Including cut marks (or crop marks) in your file is also highly recommended. These show us precisely where to trim the brochure for a clean, edge-to-edge finish.

Using our templates and including bleed/cut marks (if needed) will significantly speed up the process and help us print your brochures exactly as you envision them!
